The 2007-2008 school year is going great! Our students, teachers, and staff members have been working hard and are striving to reach our goals! We are very proud that our campus was rated as "Recognized" by the state for the 06-07 school year. Our goal is to reach "Exemplary" status, and we just barely missed it this past year. We welcome parents as partners in education, and we encourage volunteers to help on our campus. Meeting the needs of every student is a priority, and we appreciate the support of parents and community members to help us reach every child. In October the Texas Education Agency released the Gold Performance Awards for Texas campuses. Mt. Vernon Intermediate received Gold Performance in Mathematics, Reading, Science, Comparable Improvement in Math, and Comparable Improvement in Reading. Gold Performance Awards are awarded based on the percentage of students who score "commended performance" on the TAKS tests. Commended Performance is comparable to an "A" on these tests. To receive the awards, a campus must have more than 25% of all students and each student group to receive a commended score. We are very proud of these awards!
