Hi! My name is Jan Richey. I graduated from Mildred High School in Corsicana, Texas in 1978. I have an Associates of General Education from Navarro College and a Bachelors of Liberal Arts from University of Texas at Tyler. I have been teaching for 13 years but this is my first year at Mount Vernon High School.

I am married to Kent who is a coach and Social Studies teacher at Como-Pickton High School. We have two sons. Joshua is married to Steffany and they have a son, Joshua, Jr. They live in College Station where Joshua Sr. is currently attending Texas A&M University and will graduate in May. Our other son, Matt, is currently in the Army and is stationed at Camp Striker, Tikrit, Iraq.

I am certified to teach Secondary English, Social Studies and ESL but I would rather teach Social Studies. I have spent most of my 13 years teaching either World History or World Geography and I really enjoy teaching students about the world and its people.
