SPECIAL NOTES
1. Submit assignments with your name and the date in the upper right-hand corner. There should be no other writing or drawing on the paper aside from assigned work and the heading. Points may be deducted for violations.
2. Work that is not graded, but only checked for completeness, will be returned with a mark as follows:
A check with a plus sign (+) for superior effort (100% credit)
A check for good work (90% credit)
A check with a minus sign (–) for an average effort (80% credit)
A check with a double minus sign (=) for passing effort (70% credit)
A minus sign (-) for inadequate work (70% credit)
At the end of the six-weeks period, an average of these credits is counted toward a grade in a category more heavily weighted than that of daily work.
3. A folder of assignments for the six-weeks period, collected in chronological order, may also be turned in at the end of the six-weeks period to be counted toward a grade in a category more heavily weighted than that of daily work. The folder will be graded on (a) completeness; (b) orderly arrangement; and (c) attractiveness.
4. Make-up work in all categories will be administered according to the rules in the Student Handbook. Vocabulary quizzes and tests must be taken according to these same rules, as previously arranged with the teacher, during tutorial period or during the time from 3:25 to 3:45 P.M. (immediately after the final class period of the school day).
For students who have missed school due to excused absences and extracurricular activities, Mr. Hicks will place notes of work to be made up in the student’s folder on the teacher’s desk. Otherwise, the student must take the initiative in arrangements for make-up work.
