MISSION STATEMENT
The Mount Vernon ISD, in partnership with the community, is to educate all students in a secure and nurturing environment so they will:

Acquire a foundation of knowledge
Develop intellectually, emotionally, socially, and physically
Practice ethical attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors
Become productive and cooperative members in the world of the future

Goal 1 - Student Achievement
The staff, parents, and community of the district will recognize and encourage the development of the unique potential in every student.
The students of the district will acquire the skills to successfully complete appropriate tasks in both collaborative and independent settings utilizing their potential.

Goal 2 - Community Collaboration and Communication
The district will actively involve parents, students, staff, business and community agencies to work collaboratively and interdependently to increase student success.
The district will provide an effective communication network that will enhance the commitment and involvement among the staff, parents, students, and community.

Goal 3 - Parental Involvement
All parents of the district will be active participants in the education of their children.

Goal 4 - Resource Management
The district will provide planning, funding, and maintenance for facilities that are conducive to a safe and positive learning environment.
The district will maximize the efficient use of its resources by evaluating new and existing programs and by giving priority to those programs which most effectively impact student success.

Goal 5 - Human Resource Recruitment and Development
The personnel of the district will reflect quality, diversity and sensitivity to individual differences. The district will recruit staff from under-represented groups.
The district will identify and provide staff development that supports and enhances existing and future programs.
