 David Rains: Elementary Principal:
I was born and raised in Clarksville, Texas and graduated from Clarksville High School in 1984. I met my wife, Tamela, while I was in college and we married in 1991. We have three children, Macie is a sophomore, Brandon is entering the 6th grade and Sarah is in 2nd grade.
I graduated from Texas A&M University in College Station in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering. I was a Project Manager with Temple Inland and a Production Manager with OI Corporation from 1988 until 1994. During the summer of 1994, we decided to move back to East Texas and I accepted my first teaching assignment in the Rivercrest School District teaching math. From 1994 to 2000, I attended Texas A&M – Commerce and received a Master of Science as well as Mid-management Certification and Superintendent Certification. In the Spring of 2000, I accepted the Principal position at Mount Vernon Elementary and the following summer our family moved from Clarksville to Mount Vernon.
My family is very active in the Mount Vernon community. They participate in the local baseball, soccer, basketball, and football organizations. During the afternoons, you can find us at the gym, baseball fields, soccer fields, or football field. Macie is a Jr. Varsity Cheerleader and she plays volleyball and softball. Brandon plays baseball, basketball and this Fall he will be playing football. Sarah enjoys playing softball, basketball and soccer.
We attend church at the First Presbyterian Church in Clarksville. This is a very historic church being the oldest Protestant church in Texas. It is nestle on the bank of the Delaware Creek in downtown Clarksville.
