RULES FOR THE SHOP

1. Absolutely NO tobacco, snuff, or cigarettes in the shop.

2. No one should enter the tool room unless sent there by a teacher or if a teacher is present in the tool room.

3. No one should take any metal out of the metal rack without first consulting with one of the teachers.

4. Absolutely no one should bother anyone else’s project. If any metal or wood is stacked in a small pile you should assume it belongs to someone.

5. When you begin a project in the shop you must finish this project and pay for the item before it leaves the shop, unless prior arrangements have been made with your teacher.

6. The stairs should be used only when it is necessary to go to the upper floor. At no time should anyone slide down the rail, any person caught in this act will be punished at once.

7. The parking lot is off limits at all times during the class hours. If it is necessary for a student to enter the parking lot, then the student must have specific permission from his or her teacher to enter the parking lot.

8. Absolutely no cars will be allowed in the shop during class time. If emergencies are present, each case will be handled individually by a specific teacher.

9. During class time spent in the shop no student should leave the shop for ANY reason, unless specific permission was given by the instructor. The only exceptions that will be accepted are health emergencies and then if possible let another student or teacher know before you leave.

10. All accidents, whether larger or small, MUST be reported to the teacher before you leave class.

11. Positively no “horse play” will be permitted at any time in the shop. This policy must be followed to insure the safety of everyone present in the shop.

12. All equipment that fails for any reason should be reported at once to one of the teachers.

13. At the end of the each class period, each student should return all tools to the tool room.

14. Eye protection must be worn at all times in the shop. After one warning specific punishment will be issued against the student. If the student persists at not wearing eye protection, he or she will be removed from the class.

15. All students will be required to clean up their work area on a daily basis in most instances. If your work area is not cleaned on a given day you are still responsible for this area the next day. Everyone (NO EXCEPTIONS) will be responsible at the end of each class to help the entire class to get their complete work area clean.

16. After using part of a piece of lumber or metal, the remaining part that was not utilized should be put back in the proper place.

17. All tools, equipment, and building materials have a proper place to be located. Even if you did not use the items, if they are in a place that they do not belong, please move them. Everyone working together makes for a much safer and more pleasant setting.

18. Any person who commits a premeditated act that creates an unsafe condition for themselves or the other person in the shop area may be permanently removed from a shop related class.

19. Turn all machinery off when you are not using it and if you need help to accomplish a job with a machine, get someone else, don’t try to do the job by yourself and cause an accident.

20. You are responsible for following instructions from all three agriculture teachers at all times, regardless of whether you are enrolled in their class or not

21. THINK SAFETY – IF IT’S NOT SAFE, DON’T DO IT!!
