Class Overview:

This class is designed to enhance each student’s vocabulary and understanding of the art elements and principles of design as well as build on their art ability and talent. Problem solving skills are practiced as a natural part of each assignment. Successful completion of this class will prepare students to solve problems across many disciplines as well as give the student ability to make sound decisions. Students will develop their own opinions about art, which will affect their lives. I will provide instruction and direct through a number of exercises and projects that will help develop a new awareness of art in its varied facets and an ability to create.

Grades:
Major Projects and Tests: 70%
Daily Grades/Participation: 50%
Specific grading criteria will be given with each assignment. Participation grades will be based on daily progress, class participation and clean up procedures.

Rules:
• Students will always have material out and ready to use
• Students will put forth effort-TRY
• Students will follow rules and procedures of the MVISD handbook
• Students will follow safety guidelines

Requirements:
• To keep a class sketchbook in order and up to date
• To secure and maintain supplies
• To treat the facility, the instructor, and fellow classmates with respect

* This is the basic supply list-Other supplies may be added as necessary.
Classroom Expectations
• Students are expected to be in the classroom when the tardy bell rings.
• Students are expected to have a pencil and paper everyday.
• Students are not allowed in storage closet for any reason. Any supplies will be taken care of by teacher only.
• Students are expected to follow all safety guidelines
• Students are expected to keep the classroom neat and leave no supplies or trash out when they leave. The students will stay in the classroom until it is clean.

If a student does not meet any of these expectations the following procedures should be followed:
• First Offense – Fill out Action Form
• Second Offense- Parent Contact
• Third Offense-Referral
